Abstract
This study aims to investigate the use of stop-motion video in English language learning, utilizing stop-motion video media in Islamic high schools, specifically in Islamic boarding schools where digital access and gadgets are limited for students. This study is a qualitative descriptive investigation conducted through observation and interviews in the classroom. The focus of this study was 20 11th-grade students, who were divided into four groups to create projects using stop-motion video. The findings of this study indicate that stop-motion video can increase engagement during English language learning. Indicators of this engagement include behavioural, emotional, cognitive, and social engagement, as evidenced by increased student activity, improved problem-solving skills, and increased team collaboration. The use of stop-motion also has an impact on students' interest in English lessons, as evidenced by their increased involvement in discussions and the additional information they seek. This study contributes to the understanding of the use of technology in traditional education systems, aligning with the benefits students receive in terms of increased engagement and motivation to learn.
