Abstract
GenAI tool advancement has improved our lives significantly, including in the education field. The integration of GenAI tools in education is encouraged to further assist the learning process. However, the increase in GenAI tool use also comes with challenges, including ethical concerns. In this case, students are required to develop ethical AI use, while teachers’ role evolves into a guide in cultivating students’ ethical AI use. To accommodate it, AI ethics education is required. In enhancing ethical AI use, the development process should ground it in religious values as the anchor in human conduct. However, the use of religious values in AI ethics education is still underexplored. Thus, this study aims to reveal the religious values presented in the existing literature in helping students’ AI ethical development based on UNESCO’s ethical AI guidelines. Using document analysis, this research analyzed the religious values presented in 10 research studies, revealing Imago Dei, Akhlaq al-Karimah, Wasatiyyah, Tasamuh, compassion, integrity, justice, and responsibility values applicable for AI ethics cultivation and supporting the values and policy areas in UNESCO's ethical guidelines. This study signifies the use of religious values as the foundation for further AI ethics guidelines and AI ethics teaching strategy development.
